Celebrating our success at the Digital Construction Awards
09 Jul 2024Congratulations to our 1 Broadgate team, who won the prestigious ‘Delivering Sustainability with Digital Innovation’ accolade at this year’s Digital Construction Awards.
The construction of 1 Broadgate reached a new milestone this week with the installation of the first cladding panels.
In total, some 10,000 sq m of glazing is set to be installed across 13 storeys of the building over the next seven months, transforming the streetscape close to Liverpool Street Station.
The cladding is made up of a mix of unitised (UCW) and stick curtain walling.
The UCW consists of 2,625 panels, some of which weigh up to an impressive 1,220kg, the largest of the units being some 3m wide and 5.4m high.
There are two main types of unit, ‘vision’, which have annealed laminated glass external panes, and fin panels.
The extruded aluminium fins are powder coated in 19 different colours. The panels are set in blocks, running from darker reds and pinks at the lower levels up to cream and yellow towards the upper floors.
The development will provide an eye-catching complement to the neighbouring 100 Liverpool Street, also delivered for client British Land under the Broadgate Framework.
