150th anniversary Rannoch Moor trek for Maggie's

Our colleagues took part in a two-day 45 mile trek from Spean Bridge to Loch Tulla across the challenging terrain of Rannoch Moor.

Earlier this summer, colleagues from across the UK took part in a challenge they would never forget. A two-day 45 mile trek from Spean Bridge to Loch Tulla across the challenging terrain of Rannoch Moor.

They marched, they strolled, they ran and they hobbled. However they did it, the aim was the same: to complete the 45 mile trek from Spean Bridge to Loch Tulla across the challenging terrain of Rannoch Moor.

A total of 62 brave colleagues took on the challenge of completing the two-day Highlands walk to help mark our 150th anniversary.

The trekkers were following in the footsteps of our founder Robert McAlpine and the 1889 expedition to survey part of the route of the proposed West Highland Railway.

And as the photos below show, this was no walk in the park, taking in stretches of peat, bog and marsh as well as stream and river crossings.

A total of three teams took on the challenge in late May and early June, each led by experienced hillwalkers.

The walks have helped to raise a phenomenal £12,500 for Maggie’s Care Centres.
