Claire Crompton receives WLA's Shine Award

Congratulations to Principal Engineer, Claire Crompton, who received the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Excellence Award at the Women Leaders Association’s (WLA) Shine Awards which took place on Thursday 7th March.

Claire was recognised for her commitment to fostering diversity within the workforce and being a vocal advocate for equality at Sir Robert McAlpine.

Claire who is a co-Chair for our Gender Affinity Network, has been involved in several panel discussions and industry events where she has talked openly about her passion for diversity and inclusion.

Nominated by Project Director, Nicky Rance, Claire was notified she’d made the shortlist and invited to an interview with a judging panel. The judges were impressed by her motivation and determination to support new policies, to give others a voice and share her own experiences. Claire was also the only one shortlisted without any D&I related responsibility or experience as part of her day job.

Nicky said:

“Congratulations Claire, this is a much-deserved win. Claire is an incredible advocate for fairness and diversity within our business, she has worked hard within our networks to make improvements across our business within ED&I. Surprisingly, despite both working for SRM for many years, our membership with the WLA is the main reason that Claire and I have connected. It shows just how useful the association is and the impact it can have. I encourage any woman looking for leadership development, inspiration, support, or a great network community to join.”
