National Rehabilitation Centre celebrates ‘topping out’ milestone

Construction progress at the National Rehabilitation Centre
Watch recent drone footage showing the progress being made on the construction of the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) near Loughborough.
Integrated Health Partners (IHP), our joint healthcare venture with VINCI Building, is delivering the NRC building, which will be the first NHS National Rehabilitation Centre.
As the pictures and drone footage below show, the 70-bed, state-of-the-art new facility is taking shape, with the first of the black cladding panels now in place and work having begun on window installation. Elsewhere on site, the project’s energy centre is now complete, and installation of services is progressing.

The NRC is run by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. Its design uses modern methods of construction and will be highly energy efficient, with plans for the building to be carbon neutral to support the NHS ambition to be Carbon Net Zero by 2045.
Work continues to integrate the Smart Hospital design to make the NRC as digitally advanced as possible, with the capability to incorporate additional cutting-edge technology in the future.
The NRC is due to open in 2025 and aims to transform clinical treatment for patients in the East Midlands, and set a new standard for research and innovation, and education and training in rehabilitation for the whole of the UK.

The £105m NRC project aims to transform rehabilitation care, research, and training in the UK. This specialist healthcare facility combines NHS care with research and innovation from academic partners the University of Nottingham and Loughborough University.
Under construction on the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate near Loughborough, the facility is designed to integrate with the natural landscape and is specified to the highest standards of sustainability, aiming to achieve net zero carbon over the entire life of the building.
