Ryan Armstrong and a team of fundraisers from our M6DBFO team are taking on Ben Nevis to help raise £100,000 for the cancer support charity.
Ben Nevis, located in Scotland, is the highest mountain in the British Isles, standing at 1,345 meters (4,413 feet) above sea level. It's a formidable challenge that attracts climbers from around the world, making it the perfect symbol of the strength and determination driving this fundraising effort.
Ryan and pals Sean Houston, Cameron Irvine, Chris Fox, Callum Grant and Wullie Harrison will be scaling the mountain on August 22nd as part of their drive to fulfil Jackie’s goal of raising £100,000 for the cancer support charity.
Sadly, Jackie passed away in February 2020 after a 10-year battle with the disease, having raised a phenomenal £85,000.
It all started after she visited the Maggie’s Centre in Edinburgh. Jackie took it upon herself to try to raise £5,000 for the charity, and when she quickly achieved that goal decided to go even bigger, setting her sights on raising £100,000 for Maggie’s.
What followed was a blizzard of fundraisers, from zip wires across the river Nith, to a sky dive, themed charity nights, bag packs at local supermarkets and sponsored walks.
“She was so determined to raise money for charity that she even organised events from her hospital bed!” says Ryan.
“She managed to raise a huge £85,500 for the charity before she passed away. Our goal is to continue her charity work to help raise the remaining money in her memory to reach her £100,000 goal.”
