Introducing Samantha Archer-Hind on International Women's Day

For International Women's Day, we shine a spotlight on Senior Quantity Surveyor, Samantha Archer-Hind who shares more about her career journey into construction including how the industry can continue to grow female talent.

For International Women's Day, we meet Samantha Archer-Hind, a Senior Quantity Surveyor whose career journey exemplifies determination, passion, and resilience in the face of challenges.

Samantha's involvement at our National Rehabilitation Centre project in Loughborough, underscores her commitment to building a better future through her work in the construction industry.

Samantha's path to success wasn't conventional. Armed with a degree in Geography, she ventured into Quantity Surveying, driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact in the Built Environment. Her story is a testament to the versatility and adaptability of skills across disciplines, proving that one's background should never limit their potential.

In a male-dominated industry, Samantha navigates obstacles with grace and confidence. She believes communication is a vital skill to overcoming barriers and challenges. In her experience, embracing a diversity of perspectives and talents is necessary to drive innovation and excellence in projects.

"Please do not be put off by the misconception that construction is a ‘man’s world’. The variety of roles, locations and the selection of projects that can be experienced makes construction an excellent choice for those that want to step away from the mundane!" says Samantha.

Moreover, Samantha's pride in her work at the National Rehabilitation Centre speaks volumes about the transformative power of construction projects. Her dedication to creating facilities that meet the evolving needs of society underscores the profound impact of construction on healthcare infrastructure and public welfare.

As we mark International Women's Day under the theme of "Inspire Inclusion," Samantha emphasises the need for the construction industry to nurture female talent.

The National Rehabilitation Centre is being delivered by Integrated Health Projects (IHP), the joint venture between VINCI Building and Sir Robert McAlpine.
