National Apprenticeship Week 2024 with Abigail Wilkinson
Introducing Abigail Wilkinson, Apprentice Quantity Surveyor at the Museum of London.
In support of National Apprenticeship Week, we meet Abigail Wilkinson, Apprentice Quantity Surveyor.
Abigail joined SRM in September and is now working on our £240 million Museum of London project. Having studied Maths at A Level Abigail was keen to find a role that would fit her skillset and keep her challenged. Upon learning about the diverse career options in construction, she conducted some research and decided to pursue a career in quantity surveying.
Abigail said: “I’m really pleased that I looked into the roles available within construction because there are so many, and most I didn’t even know existed! I’ve found a great fit with quantity surveying. It’s collaborative and means I can use the skills I have while also being a part of the build from the ground up.”
In her current role, Abigail balances her studies at London South Bank University (LSBU) with her role where she is based both on site and in the office. Day to day she assists several of the contractors working on the museum, managing their payments, and ensuring they have everything they need.
Looking to the future, Abigail is focused on completing her degree while gaining more practical experience. She’s also keen to work towards accreditation with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
